Logan County Schools have elected to use a non-traditional school day on 21 August. This action will allow students an opportunity to view the solar eclipse away from their schools. It is hoped this option will help ease forecasted traffic congestion and lesson the strain on community emergency resources. The following is the required student assignment (unlike in veiwing the eclipse itself, no special viewing apparatus is required for the assignment's completion):

- Why and how do solar eclipses occur?
- What are the advantages and disadvantages of a Solar Eclipse?
- Why are Solar Eclipse rays harmful to the unprotected human eye?
- How did you spend your once in a lifetime experience?
