Logan County Schools

Certified Substitute Teaching Requirements- 18 years of age or older, have a high school diploma. Apply on our district website, logan.kyschools.us, click on employment, under links, it will have, “apply here for jobs.” You will have to create an account with Applicant Tracking (school spring board) and complete the sub application. Upon being hired as a sub, you will receive your onboarding paperwork through our PowerSchool (records system).

Substitute Paraeducator- you have to have at least 64 college hours, if not, you will have to schedule a time to take the paraeducator test. The paraeducator test is given at the Central Office. Please call Logan County Board of Education to schedule a time to take the test. 270-726-2436. Please look on our district webpage to find the paraeducator study guide.

If you are a classified staff (currently hired in a classified position at our school district), you have the opportunity through our GYO program (Grow Your Own) to earn a teaching certificate through WKU while you still keep your job. LC Board of Education will pay 1/3 of your education, WKU will pay 1/3, and you are out only 1/3 of the tuition. Any questions, call Logan County Board of Education.

We also have Option 9 for our classified staff. We work with the University of the Cumberland’s, and this allows a classified staff to continue working in their current role and you will have three years to complete the education/teaching program. However, no reimbursement with tuition for this option.

To renew a teaching certificate go to Kentucky Department of Education. If there are any questions regarding certifications call 502-564-5846 and speak to a certification specalist.
