Superintendent's Message

Dear Logan County Community,

I hope this message finds you well as we enter 2024. I am so honored and excited to join the LC team as Logan County's new superintendent!

Logan County has always been home to me. I began attending school at Chandler’s Elementary where my mom was a teacher, and I graduated from Logan County High School in 1991. After attending Western Kentucky University, I began a 25-year-long career with Warren County Schools as a high school agriculture teacher, middle school assistant principal, and elementary principal. Most recently I worked at the Green River Regional Educational Cooperative supporting school and district-level educators in a variety of roles across more than 50 Kentucky school districts. These opportunities to work with students and adults at all levels, including in post-secondary education, have provided valuable training for this position.

Returning to my home district has long been a professional goal, and observing the progress and accomplishments of Logan County Schools over the years has been both inspiring and motivating. The district's reputation for excellence in academics, athletics, extracurricular activities, staff achievements, and community involvement has earned it a high level of respect across the region and state. The opportunity to work in such a great district is exciting!

Visiting schools, I have been highly impressed with the positive culture and caring relationships exhibited by both staff and students. Having spent nearly 30 years working in education, I firmly believe that these positive relationships are the key to success in everything that we do.
My focus over the next few months is to listen. You can expect to see me at schools, events, and in the community. I hope you’ll introduce yourself to me when you do. Soon you’ll be given an opportunity to provide input about what is going well and what we can do better. I strongly believe that our collective voices play an important role in charting the path forward. My job is to help make Logan County Schools a fantastic place to learn and to support the work that our staff do for students. It is exciting and fulfilling to be a part of this process.

I wish you a wonderful rest of the school year, and am looking forward to this journey with you and with Logan County Schools!

Sincerely yours,

Dr. Dan Costellow, Ed.D
